During the period 08–12 February 2026, a working visit took place in Dübendorf, Switzerland, at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA), within the Laboratory for Air Pollution / Environmental Technology.
The primary objective of the visit was to participate in a technical workshop dedicated to the analysis of experimental methane data. The activities focused on familiarizing participants with modern methods for processing and interpreting atmospheric data, as well as with techniques used to estimate methane emissions from local sources. The workshop combined theoretical presentations with hands-on sessions involving the analysis of experimental datasets.
During the technical meetings, internationally recognized methodologies for the analysis of atmospheric methane concentration measurements were presented. A central component of the workshop was the mass balance approach, which is widely used to estimate methane fluxes originating from specific emission sources.
Participation in this workshop provided an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of airborne methane data processing and interpretation, as well as practical experience using software tools developed by international partners. Furthermore, the visit facilitated knowledge exchange with EMPA researchers and contributed to strengthening the scientific collaboration within the East European Methane Study program.
