During the period 02–09 May 2026, a business trip took place to Vienna, Austria, for participation in the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2026, one of the world’s leading international scientific conferences in the fields of geosciences and climate research.
The primary objective of the participation was to deliver a PICO presentation entitled “Atmospheric drivers of climate change over Romania with focus on CH₄: sources and changes inferred from reanalysis, observations, and emission inventories.”
Throughout the conference, the latest scientific advances and research directions related to climate change, greenhouse gas monitoring, atmospheric modelling, and modern methodologies for estimating methane emissions were presented. Participation in the scientific sessions provided the opportunity to explore new methodological approaches, review research findings from leading international research groups, and discuss future collaboration opportunities in the field of methane monitoring.
The conference also included meetings with members of our partner team from the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA), who collaborate with us on research projects focused on methane monitoring and emission analysis. These discussions focused on exchanging expertise regarding atmospheric data processing and interpretation methods, reviewing the progress of ongoing collaborative activities, and identifying future directions for scientific cooperation, thereby strengthening the partnership between the participating institutions.
